Fix Now, Debate Later
There will always be issues with your SaaS.
Something needs to get fixed.
Some feature needs an enhancement.
Some real world event can require you to come up with a new feature.
Sometimes, something can just break down out of nowhere.
And when it does, your whole service goes down and you’re in deep shit.
The way your company handles this situation will say a lot about your company.
As you continue to grow, there will be more hurdles in place when it comes to getting things done. For me, having emergency procedures is one thing that you really need to have in place as it says alot about your company.
I’ve seen companies debate things and argue what went wrong. They start pointing fingers and try to protect themselves. Some will even say that it’s not their job. It’ll take things longer and longer and longer to get back to normal.
Fix things now, you’ll understand more during the time you are fixing it and debate about things later.
This is technically applicable for any company, heck, it’s even relevant to how governments are run.
A quick example: there’s a pothole on your neighborhood’s road.
Fix it now and talk about why that happened and how to prevent it later
OR
Talk about why that happened and how to prevent it then go and fix it?
How much time will be wasted before something gets done?
Drop me a DM and say Hi. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
